Introduction
Michigan needs change. Its economy is failing, its infrastructure is weakening, and people in Michigan are losing hope. Our Michigan is at a crossroads. Many of the current policies and practices of State Government are driving Michigan in the wrong direction. Too many of our family and friends are unemployed or underemployed, despairing and lacking hope. The time for change is now.
As I see it, while Michigan is suffering from a deficit of jobs, just as importantly, we are suffering from a deficit of leadership. I am running for Governor to erase that deficit. I am running for Governor because too many of my friends and relatives – and too many of your friends and relatives – are looking for work. I am running because too many of our best and brightest, too many of our young and talented, are leaving Michigan.
Today I am releasing the first steps on changing Michigan. The time for small changes and timid acts is past; we must make bold and revolutionary changes. I lay out these first steps on the road to a new and prosperous Michigan. Some of these ideas are big, some are small; but all are steps we should consider in our campaign to change Michigan.
Michigan’s heritage is greatness; I know Michigan’s future is greatness – if we dare to act boldly.
