Attorney General Cox tells Muskegon crowd the Chicago canal locks must be shut to stop Asian carp
MUSKEGON — Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox said the immediate solution to keep the dreaded Asian carp out of Lake Michigan is simple: Close the canal locks in Chicago.
Cox was in Muskegon Thursday speaking to a Muskegon Area Chamber of Commerce group to round up support for his legal battle against the state of Illinois and the federal government. He wants to close the locks while a more permanent solution to the carp’s migration into the Great Lakes is devised.
